The CHRISTIAN FAMILY FACING THREATS AND CHALLENGES

Verona, Italy March 30.2019

“Today we see in a really terrifying way that the greatest persecution of the church does not come from the enemies outside, but is born from the sin in the church” (Benedict XVI, on route to Lisbon, Fatima, May 11. 2010)

This alarming warning of our beloved and wise Pope in peaceful retirement, is a call to worry of course, but also not to lose faith in the One who has promised to stay until the end of time, with His Bride, the Holy Church. Yes indeed we still are shaken by the dreadful news of the crimes committed by even a small number of clergy, against minors, for the past half century.

But what should especially worry us, it is the challenges that the parents with their children have to face in our times, while seeking to live their Christian call, they have to defend their values, in front of the attacks that undermine their very being as first and most reliable cell of human society, the “domestic church”.

An example that is of particular concern to us today is that a growing number of young people choose to live in partnership, in order to avoid linking their mutual and creative love through the sacrament of marriage.

Thenatural law and international juridical principles are the fundamental basis of the family, a social unit that consists of a free and complementary union between a man and a woman. “The Catholic Church holds that there is a natural order of things which is accessible to our reason. Out of this natural law flow certain natural rights as well as moral duties proper to our human nature”. (Pope Benedict XVI).

The Christian Revelation elevated the natural family to a sacrament that unites a husband and a wife in a binding love open to life. This union called “marriage” is free and indissoluble, as the Bible says: “For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh”.This is the living Tradition that has been handed down to us by the Fathers of the Church and by the “Magisterium”, since early Christianity.

The Christian family is the “Domestic Church” (John Paul II)

  • Attacks Threatening the Christian Family

The sexual revolution of the 1970s: centering on libertarianism, individualism, eroticism, sentimentalism, claiming to bring happiness to new generations tired of violent conflicts and wars of their parents. It was instead a source of degradation of the society and despair leading often to suicidal attempts.

The liberal agglomerate Media promoting the LGBT’s agenda that accredit their relations with the definition of “marriage” and the right to adopt children. These ideological Media seek to distort the truth and manipulate the common people, while concealing the well-known legal maxim "The exception proves the rule" and not the other way round!

In a natural and Christian family, a child should not be considered the property of an adult, but he or she is a human person having the right to live and enjoy the love and care of a father and a mother, not a parent A and parent B!

Love in Christian marriage bound is a mutual and creative giving, not an egocentric pleasure that prone hedonism. Those very manipulating Media keep marketing attractive lies like the individualistic freedom, the fulfillment “épanouissement” of the woman, acclaiming her right to dispose of her body and her fetus at all conception stages!

Another lie of the Media that hammer the opinion of the common people is the urgency to adhere to the so-called "multiculturalism". Civil leaders, sociologists and even theologians, never tire of adopting a "politically correct" language, to impose their theory on the conviviality between peoples and the naive dialogue between cultures and religions, while knowing their basic differences.

It is time to state clearly and categorically that Western civilization, including its identity based on Christian faith, culture and social principles, must be acclaimed, defended and celebrated throughout the world! For, even at the time of the middle ages, the woman was respected, defended and honored as a wife and mother!

We ask our young people: "Where effectively, persecuted peoples or individuals suffering from hunger and oppression seek to take refuge, if not in countries based on faith and Christian values that respect every person of every religion or ethnic group as a human be, son and daughter of Almighty God?"

  • Challenges from within the family

The Christian family as a “Domestic Church” is called to confront the challenges of our time with faith, relying fully on the Grace and on the teaching of holy men and women of the Church.

The dignity and freedom of women is truly defended and protected by the traditional Christian family and not by the so-called "feminism".

The economic burden in developed countries, although quite serious, should not be assessed as the sole criterion for refusing the child or limiting the birth rate.

The globalization of social media is becoming a kind of dictatorship and could have a negative impact on family life. Parents and children are urged to use them responsibly, in order to avoid moral and physical harm to unity and mutual love.

Drug addiction, lost youth and growing suicides are some of the horrendous and painful realities that modern sciences and technologies caused in today’s world! (over 70,000 of deaths by drug overdoses in USA for the year 2017!)

  • Calling the Christian Family to be Leader, Teacher and Evangelizer

        a) Leader

Assuming its responsibility of sharing in God’s creative love, defending life from conception till death.

Participating actively in socio-political issues to defend at local and national levels, the Christian values, culture and civilization.

        b) Teacher

Being committed to accompany and educate the children with compassion and truthful faithfulness to the gospel.

Claiming the inalienable right of children to be raised by a father and a mother.

Having the stamina to fight civilly against syncretism and multiculturalism that harms and could even destroy the faith identity of the children.

Opposing the politically correct language and self criminalization “the masochism”, which is a betrayal of the Judeo-Christian culture and values that have shaped the world civilization.

        c) Evangelizer

The Christian family as the “domestic church” is called to be witness of the Lord by words and deeds.

She is called to evangelization, without fear of being accused of proselytism, because Jesus wants all humans being saved. The neighbor I happened to meet on the street or work, has also the right to know Jesus as his, her savior

  • CONCLUSION

The family of persecuted and uprooted Eastern Christian Communities in Syria and Iraq, kept their faith and hope in the Lord, giving the whole world that they treasure the family based on loving father-mother and caring grandparents.

The Holy House of Mary is the “home of the family,” Pope Francis said during his recent visit to Loretto, noting that: “in the delicate situation of today’s world, the family founded on marriage between a man and a woman takes on an importance and an essential mission.”

LA FAMIGLIA CRISTIANA : MINACCE E SFIDE

Verona, Italia 30 marzo 2019

  • Sfide all'interno della famiglia

Genitori e bambini sono invitati a usarli responsabilmente per evitare danni morali e fisici all'unità e all'amore reciproco.

        a) Leader
