His Beatitude Patriarch Mor Ignatius Youssef III YOUNAN invites the Syriac Catholic Youth between 18 & 35 years old from around the world, to participate in the First Syriac Youth International Convention SYIC, to be held in the Monastery of Our Lady of Light (Umm El-Nour), Faytroun, Lebanon, from Tuesday 17 to Sunday 22 July 2018, entitled “Come and See”.

of our Syriac Catholic dioceses, parishes, and missions

in the Middle East and the Church of Extension

    Peace and love in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, with prayerful wishes that 2018, will be a year of peace, health and blessings.

    The active participation of the Youth in the life of the Church is a sign of vitality and a hope for the renewal of the Christian community in the Spirit. Dedicated to their promises of baptism, they share in announcing the message of salvation and become truly “living stones ...” (1 Peter 2: 5-9).

    For this reason, the Fathers of our Holy Synod decided last October to call for the “First Syriac Youth International Convention SYIC” to be held next summer in Lebanon.

    This Convention aims first to nurturing mutual acquaintance between our young people coming from many countries, and second to introducing them to the richness of the Syriac patrimony, language and civilization.

    We, therefore, write to you to do all your best to encourage young men and women in your communities to participate in this Convention. For such a purpose, we appointed an organizing committee made of a dynamic youth group and headed by Rev. Fr. Jules Boutros who is the national chaplain for universities students in Lebanon.

  Following is the needed information:

•The title of the Convention is “Come and See” (John 1: 46)

• Participants: Youth from 18 – 35 years old

• Time: From Tuesday 17 to Sunday 22 July 2018

• Place:  Monastery of Our Lady of Light (Umm El-Nour), Faytroun, Lebanon

•Activities and Programming: enriching spiritual testimonies, liturgical celebrations, entertainment and enjoyable touristic excursions.
