ننشر فيما يلي نص الرسالة التي وجّهها بالإنكليزية غبطة أبينا البطريرك مار اغناطيوس يوسف الثالث يونان بطريرك السريان الكاثوليك الأنطاكي، إلى فخامة الرئيس التركي رجب طيّب أردوغان، للتعزية بضحايا الزلازل المدمّرة والهزّات التي أصابت تركيا خلال الأسابيع الأخيرة.

    وفي رسالة التعزية هذه، عبّر غبطته عن قربه الروحي من المتضرّرين، مشيداً بالتعاطي الحكيم لفخامته ومعاونيه من المسؤولين مع هذه الكوارث، والعمل لإعادة بناء ما تهدّم وتلبية الاحتياجات الإنسانية، سائلاّ الله أن يرحم الضحايا، وحاثّاً المؤمنين في تركيا وبلاد الشرق والاغتراب على الصلاة من أجل راحة الموتى وشفاء المصابين والمساهمة في معونة المتضرّرين والنكوبين.

    Your Excellency,

    It is with great sadness that I write to express my spiritual closeness to the people of Türkiye who were horribly affected by the catastrophic earthquake of February 6th.

    Given the magnitude of this terrible cataclysm, I can only admire your great patriotism and your wisdom in the face of the horrible and persistent consequences of this unprecedented calamity, which still continues to spread fear.

    No one should ignore your commendable efforts to rebuild what has been demolished and meet the humanitarian needs of those who have been affected and have lost everything, including beloved family members, homes and jobs.

    We implore Almighty God to give eternal rest to those who have lost their lives, to heal the injured, to comfort the afflicted, and to support those in need of shelter and humanitarian assistance.

    We called upon our communities in Türkiye, the Middle East and those of emigration to pray to Almighty and Merciful God, to grant eternal rest to the victims and to participate in the aid campaign to relieve the survivors.

    Please accept, Mr. President, the assurances of my esteem, respect and gratitude.
